this is my lunch for today: a sandwich with seeded bread, turkey, ricota, a little bit of camembert, loads of watercress and a sliced salad tomate. for dessert clementine and plum. 

i went again by the bank today. when i was at lattes cafe [at 7.30 this morning] to wait for the bank to open at 9 i was thinking i should write a new post today, but had no clue what to write about or rather have had too much stuff going on in my busy head. oh well, when i took the lunch photo i thought it would be nice to show it here, more or less this is the beginning of it all. for today.

things were very quick at the bank, with no queue. i really enjoyed going there again and walking back through highfield campus to avenue campus, where i have spent most of my time in the past two months. yes, now i realize my daytime weekday life has been concentrated around this area, which goes until portswood road, with portswood road occupying also some of my nights. i am more like a free bird on weekends.

this week the temperature is going down, they say. it has gone down already, i feel it. but again it felt very nice to take this quite short walk in this sunless morning all wrapped up to protect myself from the cold. i have many things to do today. am writing a chapter about the brazilian context. i will provide an overview of education in brazil, the teaching of english, and teacher professional development there. not sure why but i feel overwhelmed with the massive amount of information i have gathered for this. will need to make practical decisions so that the chapter gets its planned length, no shorter, no longer. 

other than that i can't help but say i have really enjoyed every day here, appreciating the beautiful things the change of the seasons bring. perhaps there is already a sense of missing this place where i have lived for over four years now.

these photos are from not long ago. it was 12.06pm. 12 degrees celsius. i went for a walk in the common park, which is just neighbours with avenue campus, where i come to do my phd work. it was so foggy and beautiful. 

it was a 35-min walk, not much, but enough to make me feel much better. the park is soo beautiful and well preserved. despite the cold and the fog we see people there alone, with family members, with their dogs, all enjoying the fantastic park. i will miss it forever when i leave it here. fond memories.

this is the common park. it is misty in this very cold morning. 3.5 degrees celsius when i arrived here today, 7.30am. mysterious and beautiful. i felt like going for a walk there just as i was faced with this rather rare [to me] and inviting scenery. i came to the office instead. maybe later on i will venture in the park.

these two photos show one of the ways to access the park, which is quite large and really really beautiful. it is just a 1-minute walk from the avenue campus, where i work on my research.

it was 0.5 degree when we left the house this morning. because it was so early i spent some time at latte's cafe until i could go to the bank to sort things out. on my way back from the bank and walking towards avenue campus i was very pleased to see again so much beauty at highfield campus. the autumn colours are just amazingly beautiful. the days here have been quite winter-like. really chilly. and sometimes the sun smiles through the chill. nature is perfect.

beautiful and blossoming spring is in the air; we all know that. also, days have been slightly warmer around here, with some very nice and sunny. it is funny to know the temperature maybe be low, like last night it was 7.5C, but it didn't feel super cold. winter is about to say goodbye but we are still getting these foggy mornings which can be a little chilly and beautiful and romantic. me likey 
this photo i took with my mobile phone this morning, about 7.20am when mike dropped me off here. it is the southampton common park . i love this park and i walk through it nearly every day, as i live and work very near it. mike just texted me to say he had a difficult drive to work because it was really foggy all the way to work, which is now in salisbury, about a 45-minute drive in normal conditions.

autumn at the common

once again the common is getting more colourful and amasingly beautiful with the arrival of autumn. this morning i went for a great walk and was lucky to get some rain. oh My do i love it. breathtaking! this is such a privilege to have this opportunity to live so close to this park, which is my heart with its singing birds. love it. i can't tell how many photos i have of the park. this is one of the many i took this morning.

londres: passeio no sabado

no final do dia, ou a caminho de casa depois do sabado intenso, paramos em tower hill para apreciar as belezas do lugar: um castelo, uma ponte belissima - a tower bridge, a prefeitura da cidade (aquele predio que parece um parafuso se desmanchando ao vento, aa esquerda na foto), e mais gentilezas arquitetonicas que a historia da cidade foi naturalmente construindo, aqui, ali, acola.

quando descemos em tower hill ja era noite, mais de 9 da noite, mas ainda havia luz do dia e consegui fazer umas fotos. muito impressionante a beleza da ponte, a beleza do rio, a grandeza do forte. mais uma vez, cliques cliques cliques de almas que vem fazer parte da historia, e registrar essa participacao devidamente. adorei. ali mesmo tem um castelo que era um forte, enorme e lindo. vou la com calma qualquer dia desses. as duas fotos abaixo mostram um lado do forte, e tambem o forte e a vista da tower bridge. eh assim: a gente anda um bocadim e testemunha beleza arquitetonica, basta descer do metro. os passeios de onibus sao sempre proveitosos, porque obviamente dele pode-se ver a cidade, principalmente se viajamos no andar de cima.

i can't help but find the spring here so so beautiful. atchiiiiiim! these photos are from today in my walk through the common park, going to uni. this is the landscape i see everyday. i haven't taken the us at all lately, just enjoyed the beauty of the day, of the trees, the singing of the birds. the spring changes our life in so many ways. there are always people in the park, walking up and down, walking their dog, on a stroll with their kids, alone, exercing at the park's bench, as in the photo here. i love it. i have taken a few photos :-)

the cowherds, one of my favorite pubs, is right there in the park. they put this note warning customers who have an intention of taking a glass with them to the park. the basic policy from everywhere is that safety comes first. always. then fun is naturally granted.

these photos are from our tour with adriana, rosinha, marcos, and hilra today. the spring is bringing all the leaves back to the trees. the trees now look so much happier they whistle with the wind telling this to whole world. this bigger photo on the right hand side is from the 5th floor, inside hartley library. we can see that some students are on the grass, enjoying the sun (brrrrr). let me say the truth, chilly sun, but still very bright and much welcome. we find some brave ducks in this stream.

as flores da primavera

hoje muito cedo eu tive que passar e entrar no avenue campus pra fazer umas fotocopias antes de ir dar aula no highfield campus. cheguei normalmente, deixei o casaco no escritorio e fui ate a copiadora, ali no segundo andar. eu estava fazendo as fotocopias quando num segundo a imagem das arvores no patio interno ali embaixo atraiu meus olhos, me fisgou de fascinacao num segundo que eu peguei o livro que estava sobre a mesa proxima aa janela, que nem eh janela de fato, eh um vidro que se extende por todo o segundo andar e da uma visao la de baixo. meus olhos se encheram com a beleza da imagem das arvores cobertas em  lindos vestidos brancos, graciosamente floridos.

elas, que atravessaram o inverno gelado nuas, sem atrativo e desprotegidas, agora se vestem de beleza e delicadeza, provando que a primavera eh a renovacao da vida. eh como se recuperassem o vico de femea. essas arvores vestidas lindamente e as cores muitas que ja comecam a sorrir  . . . ah, eu adoro. a natureza parece caminhar com a gente, lado a lado na vida, e agora ela diz assim: 'ta vendo, o caminho tem cores, ares novos, e tudo ta mudando'. estacao nova, roupa nova, ideias novas, sim, oportunidade para mudar. . . vestir-se de cores graciosas. . .
